Every Newfoundland and Labrador story begins with a connection.

It might be a family recipe passed down through generations, a photograph tucked away in an old album, a favourite hiking trail overlooking the Atlantic, or a memory of growing up in a small outport where everyone knew your name. These are the moments that shape our province—and they’re exactly the stories ShareNL.ca was created to celebrate.

Our website is more than a collection of articles. It’s a place where history, culture, travel, folklore, local businesses, and community pride come together in one welcoming space. Whether you’re a lifelong resident, someone who has moved away, or simply someone who loves this remarkable province, ShareNL invites you to be part of the conversation.

Following ShareNL on social media is one of the easiest ways to stay connected. Throughout the week, you’ll discover fascinating historical features, breathtaking photography, hidden travel destinations, local legends, community events, contests, nostalgic memories, and stories that remind us why Newfoundland and Labrador is unlike anywhere else in the world. From rugged coastlines and colourful fishing communities to remarkable people and enduring traditions, every post is designed to celebrate the unique character of our province.

Social media is also where the community comes alive. Readers share family photographs, recommend favourite restaurants, tell stories about hometown traditions, identify historic locations, and offer firsthand memories that help preserve our shared heritage. Every comment adds another piece to Newfoundland and Labrador’s living story, making ShareNL more than a publication—it’s a community built by the people who call this province home.

As ShareNL continues to grow, so will the opportunities to participate. Watch for photo contests, trivia challenges, community spotlights, local history features, seasonal guides, and chances to have your own stories and photographs featured. Whether you’re exploring a new corner of the province or remembering the one where you grew up, there’s always something new to discover.

From the rugged coastlines of Labrador to the quiet outports of Newfoundland, every corner of this province has a story worth preserving.

There is something special about Newfoundland and Labrador.

Perhaps it’s the sound of waves against a fishing stage, the warmth of a kitchen filled with laughter, or the way complete strangers become friends with nothing more than a smile and a story. It’s a place where history isn’t locked away in museums—it lives in our communities, our traditions, and in the memories passed from one generation to the next.

Every harbour, every trail, every lighthouse, and every small town has helped shape the province we know today. Some stories are famous, while others have never been written down at all. They survive through family photographs, well-worn journals, cherished recipes, and the voices of parents and grandparents who remember a different time.

As the years pass, many of those stories risk being lost.

That’s why ShareNL was created.

ShareNL is a place to celebrate everything that makes Newfoundland and Labrador unique. A place to discover remarkable history, explore hidden places, celebrate local heroes, uncover legends and folklore, and shine a light on the communities that continue to define who we are.

Whether you’ve lived here your entire life, recently arrived, or carry Newfoundland and Labrador in your heart from somewhere else in the world, join us and connect with the people, places, and traditions that make our province unlike anywhere else.

If you have old photographs tucked away in an album, family stories passed down through generations, favourite hidden places, or memories that deserve to be shared, we’d love to see and hear them.
